As a practice, Circus Dental in Bath is dedicated to being as environmentally friendly as possible, while always keeping the patients’ safety at the centre of all we do. That’s why we are part of a recycling scheme to ensure anything that we or our patients use for oral care which can be recycled, is done so correctly.
What can I recycle at Circus Dental?
We have a Zero Waste box in our reception ready and waiting to collect oral care items for recycling. Anyone is welcome to pop into the practice when we’re open to dispose of the following items:
- Electric toothbrush heads which don’t contain an RFID microchip
- Floss containers
- Interdental brushes
- Plastic toothbrushes
- Toothpaste caps
- Toothpaste tubes
What we can’t accept
We cannot recycle the following in this collection box:
- Batteries
- Biodegradable plastics
- Electric toothbrushes
- Hazardous waste
- Smart brush heads with an RFID microchip
- Wooden and bamboo toothbrushes
Not sure if your brush heads contain a microchip? Smart brush heads that connect to an app or tell your toothbrush when they need replacing, such as Philips Sonicare heads with BrushSync, usually do. If you’re unsure, just ask our reception team.
Where to find us
You’ll find the recycling box in our reception at Circus Dental, 13 The Circus, Bath, Somerset, BA1 2ES. You can drop items off any time during our opening hours. Visit our contact page for directions.
How are these items recycled?
Once collected, the box of waste goes through the following process via TerraCycle:
Shredding: The collected mixed plastics and laminates are mechanically shredded or ground into smaller fragments.
Washing & Sorting: The shredded material is thoroughly washed and separated by specific plastic polymer types.
Melting & Pelletising: Cleaned plastic flakes are melted down and extruded into secondary raw materials like pellets or powder format.
Repurposing: Manufacturers buy these recycled pellets to mould them into functional, durable items instead of letting the waste go to landfills.
Please drop in to use this recycling system and help us keep as much oral care waste out of landfill as possible. Thank you!
